CHANGE IN BLOOD PRESSURE DAY

Beginning January 8th, 2002, the regular weekly blood pressure clinic will be held on Tuesdays from

9:30-10:30 AM in the Senior Center. This change from Thursdays provides three days a week when

Seniors can have their blood pressure taken free. The other two days are Wednesday and Thursday

with Cheryl Smith, RN, MSN, CS-FNP, from 9:30-12 and 1-2:30 PM, in the Nursing Center.
  

HEARING AID REPAIR CLINIC

Carla Bartolucci, a National Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist from Avada Hearing Care Center, provides hearing aid repair clinics and hearing screenings twice a month for the Senior Center. Hours are now 11-4. Hearing screenings include otoscopic examination, hearing aid cleaning and testing hearing aid performance. The next date this service is available is January 16th. Call 256-4057 to make an appointment. For information, call 1-800-247-5666.
  

TROUBLED TIMES/HEALING RELATIONSHIPS DISCUSSIONS

The Amherst Senior Center is sponsoring a weekly discussion group for people disturbed by recent events entitled, “Troubled Times/Healing Relationships”. The sessions are facilitated by volunteer Claire Ludlow, a psychotherapist based in Pelham. The sessions in Bangs Community Center will be held Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 AM, They are free and open to the public of all ages, but space is limited and advance registration is required by calling 256-4057.
  

S.H.I.N.E. REPRESENTATIVE AT THE SENIOR CENTER

On the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, from 11 AM until 1 PM, James Perkins, a

representative from S.H.I.N.E. (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is be available at the

Amherst Senior Center. SHINE is a health insurance counseling program offering free, confidential

counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries. Call 256-4057 or stop in and sign up.
  

NEW OPTIONS

Coordinated by Bob Johnston, meetings are held on Wednesdays from 2-4 PM. If you are not already a regular participant, please inquire about the availability of a seat preceding the Wednesday meeting of your choice by calling Bob at 665-8920.

The January 9th subject will be, “Born Sensuous?” This is a user’s guide to rediscovering your senses. It includes these topics: “Where Everything Begins”, “Tasting the Wind, Hearing the Water”, Hear Sensuality, Think Sex?”, and “Awakening What’s Wild Within Us’.
